THE DISCOVERY!
We had been trying for a few months with no luck. This month I was late, but that wasn’t all that unusual. I had seen enough negative tests in previous months that I didn’t want to get my hopes up. I was rushing to get to the gym for a turbo kick boxing class - it was only my 2nd time to go, and I was excited about making it a part of my weekly routine...So much for that! I quickly took a test while I was getting ready, then after a few minutes picked it up to verify that it was negative and head off to class. But this time there were 2 lines! I did a double take - really? 2 lines?! For the next hour, all I could do was pace the floor saying “I got 2 lines... I got 2 lines...” Bret wasn’t home yet, so I had some time to collect myself - and go get another test. This time I go the one with the digital “pregnant/not pregnant” reading. Guess which one I got! I remember thinking, “Am I really ready for this?” Ready or not...
Bret got home about 10:30 that night. I told him to sit down so I could tell him something. He said, “What did I do?” I said, “You’re not in trouble, but you’re going to want to sit down.” Then I showed him the 2 lines I had been staring at all night. His reaction? Shock. I remember he had the same dazed expression on his face that he had the day after we got engaged! When he started breathing again, he looked at me and said, “Well, Congratulations.” What?! Not exactly the response I was expecting. :)
It didn’t take long for the initial shock to wear off and the excitement to set in. We are so looking forward to becoming parents and can’t wait for him to get here!
SUPER JACK!
Really, I have to say this was my idea. Took a little convincing but she finally warmed up to the idea. I don’t know about you, but the outfit I came home from the hospital in was blue, tied in the back with a little piece of flimsy material and had the hospitals name stamped across the front. Jack’s leaving the hospital in style, dressed in his very own superhero outfit that his mother designed (one of the perks of having a graphic artist as a mother).
JACK'S FIRST CHRISTMAS!
Christmas 2008 was great and Jack, while not technally here, made out like a bandit. Had his own stocking, a few presents and his mom was Santa. Click here. |

JACK'S SUPER HERO OUTFIT
Many designs were looked at but only one stood out. The final design will be unveiled when he's born.
